Our bodies, although impressively resilient with amazing healing powers, can sometimes become a little off balance. Our busy lives can leave us feeling stressed, exhausted, anxious and run down, and this can often have a negative impact on our overall health. Reflexology is an amazing tool that we can use to promote our natural healing response and reclaim control of our wellbeing in a highly effective and truly holistic way.

What is Reflexology?

Based on an ancient Egyptian healing technique, Reflexology is the application of appropriate pressure to specific points on the feet with the aim of benefitting a person’s general health. Unlike a foot massage, reflexology has the ability to promote a healing response in the organs, as well as in the muscles. It is believed by Reflexologists that when pressure is applied to reflex points on our feet, the body organ or system to which that reflex point corresponds can be positively impacted. In a reflexology chart, we see how a particular part of the foot is a reflection of a different zone in the body, and that the gentle manipulation of that pressure point can produce an effect elsewhere in the body.

How does this Relate to my Skin?

Skin disorders are almost always part of a bigger problem or malfunction within the body. If the overall function of organs and systems within the body is improved, skin is often improved as a result. Reflexology has been used as a tool to assist in the healing and relief of eczema, psoriasis, acne, shingles, ringworm, erythema, seborrhea and dermatitis. The healing of skin conditions by Reflexology has been linked to it’s ability to relieve stress, increase blood flow, and remove waste material, all of which go hand in hand with the maintenance of healthy skin.
