Choosing a Treatment Based on Skin Type
There are many areas we look at when determining what facial treatment your skin is asking for. We’ll do a skin analysis to see what conditions are presenting. We’ll also review your current skincare product regime because those products can be adding issues rather than nourishing. Then according to your concerns, we’ll make recommendations on product and provide a custom treatment plan that best suits your needs.
Laser Treatments
Laser treatments are effective on most skin types I-IV. Lasers are attracted to a colour target in the skin: either vascular, pigmentation or water. This target may be composed of various colours, which is why lighter skin gives it an easier comparison with fewer side-effects than darker skin.
Our BBL Photo Facial is a light-based device that provides fast, comfortable and effective treatments which target spots by bringing them to the surface of the skin. Things may look worse before they get better, and will naturally slough off over a period of 7-10 days. A series of 4 – 6 treatments is recommended for optimal results.
GOOD FOR: Pigmented spots, freckles, sun damage, sun spots, PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne scarring), redness associated with thinning of the skin, and stimulating collagen production
Chemical Peels
Tis the season for rejuvenating the skin, and a professional chemical peel is the ultimate exfoliating facial. GOOD FOR: Shrinking pores, uneven skin tone and texture, melasma, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and acne scarring.

Dermapen Micro Needling doesn’t use heat via a laser to cause “injury” in order to trigger the immune system to repair itself. Rather, it’s an effective treatment for all skin types that takes care of many skin concerns at the same time by stimulating the skin’s healing response and thus collagen production through microscopic channels created by the Dermapen.
GOOD FOR: Repairing scars naturally, overall health of skin, increase collagen production, target age spots.
The Verdict
While all treatments target age spots, the BBL Photo Facial is most effective on a lighter skin type. The Dermapen followed by a skin care routine and combined with other resurfacing services such as peels or hydrafacials, is also an effective treatment for lightening spots.
